All American Apple Pie Burgers

Juicy ground chuck burgers topped with walnuts and apple slices, on brioche buns.
 

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 6 brioche buns, split
  • 2 tablespoons butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup walnuts, toasted
  • 2 golden delicious apples, cored and sliced 1/2 inch thick crosswise

Method

Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium-high. To make patties, combine beef, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Handle meat as little as possible to avoid compacting it, mix well. Divide mixture into 6 equal portions and form portions into patties to fit brioche buns. Place patties on grill rack, cover, and cook, turning once, just until done, about 4 minutes on each side for medium-rare. During last few minutes of cooking, brush cut sides of brioche buns with butter and place, cut side down, on outer edges of rack to toast lightly. To assemble burgers, on each brioche bun bottom place a patty and top with candied walnuts and sliced apples. Add brioche bun tops and serve.
