This quality BBQ beef sandwich is the perfect country meal when you add baked beans and coleslaw at the table.
Preheat oven to 325 F. Brush London broil beef roast on all sides with liquid smoke. Sprinkle onion powder, garlic salt, and black pepper on both sides of roast.
Line a 9x11 baking pan with foil and set roast in pan. Pour 2 Tbsp water around roast in pan. Cover tightly with foil and bake 3 hours.
Cool and refrigerate until 1 1/2 hours before serving. Meanwhile, mix together ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire, celery salt, onion powder, and chili powder in a small bowl. Before serving, preheat oven to 350 F. Slice meat into thin slices and return to pan. Cover with the sauce. Cover pan with foil and bake 1 hour. Serve on soft rolls or buns.
Notes:
My favorite Aunt Betty gave me a similar recipe about 20 years ago and it is just a wonderful sandwich. We love it served with coleslaw and ranch style beans.
