This stew takes a little while to prepare but it is well worth it when you taste all of the flavor that it holds.
Brown beef in garlic and onion, set aside.
Boil potatoes until done, drain, set aside.
Put 2 cans whole tomato, 1 can tomato sauce, 2 bags of sauerkraut (juice to be drained out and discarded), browned beef (without the grease), few drops of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon of pepper, 4 bay leaves, cooked potatoes and enough water to cover it all (if needed) into crock pot (or you can cook it on the stove in a soup pot) for about six hours. Cook until beef is tender enough and falling apart, and all water is dissolved. Should be consistency of thick stew, not soup.
Notes:
Try with buttered rye bread.
