Very think strips of pork or beef are marinated in a mixture of soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, sherry, red pepper flakes, sugar, sesame salt, ginger, garlic and scallions, then grilled.
 

Ingredients

  • 2 TBSP Soy sauce
  • 1 TBSP Sugar
  • 1 TBSP Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1 TBSP Sesame Salt*
  • Dash fresh ground black pepper
  • 4 Scallions, cut into 1" pieces
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced or crushed
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 TBSP sake or dry sherry
  • 1 TBSP Red pepper flakes
  • 1 lb. lean boneless pork or beef rib eye, sliced very thin (about 1/8" thick)Toasted sesame seeds (to garnish)

Method

Mix together all ingredients (except meat). Add meat slices and mix with hands to coat meat thoroughly. Marinate for 30 minutes. This can be cooked in a stove top grill pan, or better yet, on an outdoor grill. It cooks very quickly, and will take only one or two minutes per side. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds.

 

Notes: *Sesame salt can be purchased in Asian markets. It is just a blend of toasted sesame seeds and salt. If you can't find it, you can make some by toasting 1 cup of sesame seeds in a frying pan until they a lightly browned, then grind them coarsely and stir in 1 tsp salt. Store this tightly covered in the refrigerator.
