Lean ground beef is combined with egg and seasoned fine dry bread crumbs, adding garlic powder, parsley, oregano and parmesan cheese for flavor. The meat mixture is shaped into balls and deep fried.
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients EXCEPT oils and shape into 1-1/2 inch meatballs. Heat oils in a 3-qt. sauce pan over medium-high heat until it ripples. Carefully place meatball in the oil until you have about 6 in the pan. Fry each batch 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally so they won't stick to the bottom of the pan. Using a large slotted spoon, remove meatballs from oil and place in an ovenproof bowl or casserole. Keep warm in 200 degree oven until ready to serve. Serve with your favorite pasta and tomato sauce.
Notes:
For better texture and less fat, ask your butcher to trim off outside fat of round steak and grind meat twice.
