Cheesy Mushroom Burgers

These large burgers are guaranteed to be messy but well worth it being stuffed with Gouda and mushrooms. Grill this recipe today.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground chuck
  • 1 tsp each salt and pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 oz shredded smoked Gouda
  • 2 oz shredded sharp cheddar
  • 1 small can mushrooms, drained
  • 4 whole wheat hamburger buns
  • 1/4 cup honey Dijon mustard
  • 1 large purple onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 bunch red leaf lettuce
 
Method

In a large mixing bowl, combine first 4 ingredients and mix just enough to distribute seasonings. Shape into 8 patties. On 4 of the patties, place 1/4 of the cheeses and 1/4 of the mushrooms. Place remaining 4 patties on top of each and seal well around edges. Prepare grill to medium high heat and grill burgers a total of 12 minutes, turning once during cooking time. Top each burger with remaining ingredients.
