Chili Tilie


Flour tortillas are layered in a dish with a mixture of ground turkey, onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, chilies, tomatoes and cream cheese.



Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon canola oil  
  • 1 pound ground turkey or diet ground beef
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 4 cloves of chopped garlic
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1, 4-oz. can diced green chiles
  • 1, 14.5 oz. can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded low-fat cheddar cheese 1 pint fat-free cream cheese, softened  
  • 1 package of fat-free flour tortillas  6 chopped green onions
  • Hot peppers

Method

Add oil to skillet; brown meat and cook chopped onions until they are caramelize; add chopped garlic to skillet. Mix chili powder and cumin together; add to skillet along with green chilies and stewed tomatoes. Add salt and pepper to mix. Stir in soft cream cheese. In large baking dish layer tortillas. Add chili mixture on top; add cheese; continue in layers and bake in oven at 350 for 45 minutes. Top with green onions and hot peppers. Serve hot.

Notes: Goes good with a garden salad. Also you can use a can of Rotel instead of green chilies and stewed tomatoes minus the hot peppers.
