Crock pot spaghetti sauce

The best way to make sauce is simmered to allow all the flavors incorporate. This sauce, with beef, peppers, tomatoes, and herbs, simmers in a crock pot for many hours.
Ingredients
- 2-tablespoons shortening
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1-cup chopped onion
- 1-cup chopped green pepper
- 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
- 1-cup chopped mushrooms (optional)
- 2 (28-ounce) cans tomatoes
- 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
- 2-teaspoons salt
- 3-teaspoons oregano
- 1/2-teaspoon rosemary
- 1/4-teaspoon thyme

Method
In a skillet heat shortening and brown ground beef, discarding fat. In crock-pot, combine all ingredients, stirring well. Cook on LOW 10 to 12 hours, on HIGH 5 to 6 hours.
