Easy, Meaty Chili

Lean ground beef plus canned chili beans, tomato paste, and tomatoes with green chilies combine to make this easy chili that can be done in a crock pot.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground sirloin or lean ground beef
  • 1 regular can Bush's brand mild chili beans
  • 1 regular can Bush's brand hot chili beans
  • 1 can Rotel brand diced tomatoes with green chilies
  • 1 small can (6 oz.) tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika
  • 3 chopped cloves garlic
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided in two portions

Method

Cook meat in skillet just so it is no longer pink. Drain. Add meat and all other ingredients, except the 1/2 cup of cheese, to either a crock pot or a kettle. In crock pot, this can cook all day on low or 2 hours on high. In kettle, cook about 1 hour on low heat, stirring occasionally. Use remaining cheese to sprinkle on top of individual chili bowls.

Notes: Substitute one pound ground turkey, pork, sausage, or diced raw chicken breast for a change in taste.

Number of servings: 6
