Green Pepper Steak

Pan seared, marinated steak with tender onions and peppers with sauce.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/4 cup salad oil
  • 1 pound round steak, cut into strips
  • 1 green pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tomatoes, cut in eighths
  • 1 cup rice, cooked

Method

Mix soy sauce, garlic, salad oil together; pour over steak, let stand overnight in refrigerator, or one hour at room temperature in a covered container. Pour into big frying pan; allow meat to brown thoroughly on all sides. Add pepper, onion, celery; cover; cook 10-15 minutes over low heat or until vegetables are soft and tender. Stir in cornstarch dissolved in water, stir until thickened. Add tomatoes; cover; cook 5-10 minutes longer or until meat is tender. Stir over boiled rice.
