Hot Roast Beef

Thinly sliced deli roast beef is used in these hot sandwiches. The beef is layered on hoagie rolls with cheddar and provolone cheeses, topped with cooked onion and olives, and warmed in the oven.
 

Ingredients

  • Sliced onions
  • Butter
  • 6 hoagie rolls, white or wheat, split
  • 1/2 lb. deli-sliced roast beef
  • 1/2 lb. provolone cheese (thin slices)
  • Finely shredded cheddar cheese
  • Sliced green or black olives
  • Poppy seed
  • Garlic salt
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato (diced)
  • Mayo or mustard

Method

Saute onions in some butter till brown. Layer rolls with roast beef, cheeses, olives & cooked onions. Place tops on sandwiches; spread melted butter & sprinkle poppy seed on them. Sprinkle with garlic salt! Place in 350 degree oven till all cheese melts. Remove sandwiches from oven; add diced tomato, shredded lettuce and dressing or mustard to the inside. Cut each into four pieces and serve warm. Great with Nachos!!

 

Notes: You may use ham instead of roast beef.
