Italian Bistro Burger with A Pesto Cream Sauce


A ground beef mixture is shaped into patties, grilled, topped with mozzarella, served in Kaisers with a pesto mixture, and topped with arugula.



Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 Tablespoons prepared pesto  
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground sirloin
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 cup seasoned fine dry Bread Crumbs
  • 1/2 cup oil-packed Dried Tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 6 large Kaiser rolls, split
  • 3 cups trimmed baby arugula leaves
  • 2 Tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar dressing

Method

Prepare an open grill for moderate direct-heat cooking. In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise and pesto, set aside. In a large bowl combine the ground sirloin, onions, Italian Seasoning, bread crumbs, dried tomatoes, basil leaves, garlic, salt and pepper. With hands or large spoon gently bring all ingredients together until well combined. Form into 4, 1/2-inch thick patties. Grill patties 8-10 minutes, turning once, until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees. During last few minutes of grilling place a slice of mozzarella over each patty to melt. Place rolls, cut side down, on outer edge of grill to lightly toast. Spread pesto mixture on insides of rolls. In a medium bowl toss the arugula leaves and dressing until coated. Place burgers on bottom of rolls, divide arugula onto burgers and top with remaining rolls. Serve immediately and Enjoy!
