Jalapeno and Salsa Burgers with a Kick

These spicy burgers get a great kick from the salsa. What a great summer meal.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
- 6 Kaiser buns, split
- 1 egg
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 6 slices American white cheese
- Salsa:
- 1 large tomato, seeded and thinly chopped
- 1/4 cup tequila
- 1/2 cup of finely chopped green pepper
- 1/2 cup of finely chopped red onion
- 2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups salad greens, torn in bite size pieces

Method
Heat grill to medium. For salsa, in a medium size bowl, combine tomato, tequila, green pepper, onion, jalapeno peppers, cilantro, garlic, and salt. Cover salsa and set aside. In another medium bowl, combine the ground beef, egg and bread crumbs, mix well. Shape the mixture into six 1/2 inch thick round patties. Grill patties over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes or until the meat is no longer pink, turning once. When burgers are almost finished, place cheese on each burger and place Kaiser buns on grill just until warm Arrange Kaiser buns on 6 plates, divide salad greens and place on buns. Place patties on bun and cut horizontally. Drain salsa and spoon salsa on each burger, put the other half of burger back on, top with more salsa and top with Kaiser bun.
