Lasagna


A classic hearty Italian dish that is layered with beef, onion, cheese, and fat noodles.



Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef  
  • 1 chopped onion  
  • 1 chopped green bell pepper  
  • 1 15oz can tomato sauce  
  • 1 7.5 oz can tomato sauce  
  • 1 10.5 oz can tomato puree  
  • 1 6oz can tomato paste  
  • celery salt  
  • garlic powder  
  • 1 can mushrooms  
  • lasagna noodles  
  • 2 eggs  
  • 24 oz cottage cheese  
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Method

Brown together ground beef, chopped onion, and chopped green bell pepper. Then add tomato sauce, puree and paste. Season to taste with celery slat and garlic powder. Add mushrooms and simmer while cooking noodles. Mix eggs into the container of cottage cheese. Lightly grease a 9 x 13" baking dish and layer the following way: Cover the bottom of the dish with sauce. Add one layer of noodles. Half of the egg and cottage cheese mixture. Then add mozzarella cheese. Enough sauce to cover the cheese. Start over with first layer and repeat. Leave enough cheese to sprinkle over the top during the last 15 minutes of baking. Cover dish with foil and bake at 375 - 400 degrees for 45 minutes to one hour. During the last fifteen minutes, remove foil and sprinkle the dish with the remaining cheese. Once cheese is melted, let stand for 10 minutes and serve.
