Lisa's Stuffed Burgers


A stuffing made of chopped portabella mushrooms, cheeses and green onion is hidden in a meat mixture that combines ground beef, turkey and sausage.



Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground extra lean ground chuck
  • 1 lb ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 lb bulk turkey sausage
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 6 drops liquid smoke
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Stuffing:
  • 1 large portabella mushroom, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded jack cheese
  • 2 green onions, sliced thin (include some of the green tops)

Method

Mix first 7 ingredients together. Make into 12 or 16 thin patties, about 4" to 6" in diameter. Combine stuffing ingredients. Place about 2 Tbsp stuffing in the center of one patty and spread it around a little. Place a second patty on top of the first; seal it all the way around. You may need to reshape it a bit. Grill or broil to desired doneness.

Notes: Serve this with a tossed green salad topped with croutons.
