Meat and Potato Pizza

This pizza has a layer of mashed potatoes spread over the crust, topped with ground beef, bacon, pizza sauce and two kinds of shredded cheeses.
 

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut up(about 2 lbs)
  • 1/3 cup of milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tube refrigerated dough for pizza crust
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef round
  • 8 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped sweet pepper
  • 8 oz pizza sauce
  • 1 1/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 1/3 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Method

Cook potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with the milk and salt; set aside. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Press pizza dough into greased pizza pan and bring up the edges of dough. Bake until golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes. Remove crust; increase oven temperature to 375 degrees. Brown hamburger in frying pan; drain. Put hamburger back in pan; add onions and pepper; simmer until tender. Make sure all liquid is gone from the hamburger mixture. Spread potatoes over crust, then add bacon on top of potatoes, add hamburger mixture on top of potatoes, then pizza sauce next. Then put both chesses on top. Bake at 375 degrees until bubbly and cheese has melted, about 15 minutes.

 

Notes: I serve this with a salad.
