An Asian-inspired sauce with soy, molasses, ginger, & garlic is brushed on a beef tenderloin before cooking, and also served with slices of the meat.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (or to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 1/2 pound beef tenderloin
  • Sprig of mint for garnish, optional

Method

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine first six ingredients. Set aside about half of the sauce to pass with the meat. Place meat on a rack in a shallow baking pan; brush meat on top and sides with the other portion of the sauce. Roast beef 10 minutes, uncovered, at 400 degrees. Lower temperature to 350 degrees, cover meat loosely with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Let rest covered about 10 minutes before carving to serve. Pass remaining half of sauce. Garnish with mint, if desired.

Notes: "Mol-gin" in the title stands for the two main flavors, molasses and ginger.

Number of Servings: 4-6
