Old-Fashioned Pot Roast

A beef pot roast, from the chuck or round section, is cooked slowly in Lipton onion soup mix and water.
 

Ingredients

  • 3- to 3 1/2-pound boneless beef pot roast
  • 1 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1 envelope Lipton Recipe Secrets Onion Soup Mix
  • 2 1/4 cups water

Method

In Dutch over or large saucepot, brown roast in oil over medium-high heat. Add onion soup mix combined with water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer covered, turning roast occasionally, for 2 1/2 hours or until tender. If desired, thicken liquid for gravy.
