Ranch Smothered Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Ranch dressing is the key to this flavorful roast that is tender and juicy. Throw all of the ingredients into your slow cooker and walk away.

Ingredients:

  • Boneless chuck roast
  • 1 cup ranch dressing
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoons pepper
  • 4-5 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup dry red wine
  • 2 cups milk or heavy cream
  • 1-2 cups water, enough to cover roast
  • 2-3 fresh garlic cloves, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced into rings

Method

Smother entire pot roast with ranch dressing, poking holes in the meat so dressing can soak in. Salt and pepper all sides until evenly coated. Place roast in slow cooker. In a large bowl, stir the beef broth, red wine, milk, and water. Pour over pot roast. Add garlic and onion slices all around meat. Cook on low for 6-7 hours until onion and garlic are well cooked and soft, and the meat is tender and juicy.

Notes: You could also do potatoes and carrots with this dish and just cook them along with the roast.

Number of servings: 5-8 servings
