Sausage and Black Bean Chili


This chili recipe is bursting with flavor and spice. Try this with some homemade corn bread for a delicious meal.



Ingredients:

  • 2 packages light sausage (try turkey sausage)
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 1/2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp ground oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 medium onions
  • 1 tbsp chopped jalapenos
  • 3 14 to 16 oz cans Italian-style stewed tomatoes
  • 2 cans 15 oz black beans, drained

Method

Chop the onions, garlic and jalape?os in a food processor. In a large skillet start to saute sausage and beef with spices, onions, garlic and jalape?os. Saute until meat is browned. In the meantime, puree lightly the tomatoes and set aside. When the meat is browned through, drain and put in crock pot. Add tomatoes. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Turn heat to low and simmer for 1 to 2 hours more or until onions are tender. Adjust seasoning, if desired. Add the beans and heat through. Serve with sour cream and grated cheese (optional).
