Sirloin Burgers with Pizza Sauce

These tasty burgers combine a favorite pizza flavor with a low-carb burger. Try this great meal with a fresh salad.
 

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground sirloin
  • 1/2 cup diced onion, divided
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1/4 cup diced green pepper
  • 1/4 cup diced red pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sliced fresh white mushrooms
  • 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 2.25 ounce can slice ripe olives, drained
  • 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese
  • 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded

Method

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground sirloin, 1/4 cup diced onion, garlic salt and black pepper. Form into 4 patties. Fry burgers in 2 tablespoons olive oil until done. Meanwhile, saute green pepper, red pepper, 1/4 cup diced onion and minced garlic in 2 tablespoons olive oil for 3 minutes. Add sliced mushrooms and saute for 2 minutes. Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning and ripe olives. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in Parmesan cheese and heat for 1 minute. To serve, place ground sirloin burgers on serving plate and ladle pizza sauce over burgers. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
