A cooked mixture of beef strips, onion, peppers and tomato is spooned into split hoagie buns, topped with cheese and broiled.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound lean sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 bell pepper, thinly sliced in strips
  • 1/2 hot pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tomato, peeled, seeded and diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (I use mozzerella, but any is fine)
  • 4 (6-inch) hoagie buns, split

Method

In a large heated skillet, saute the onions, both peppers, garlic, and tomatoes in the vegetable oil until tender (about 5 minutes); remove and set aside. Add the steak to the same skillet. Sprinkle salt and pepper over meat. Stir-fry until steak is cooked through. Return vegetable mixture to meat and toss. Remove from heat. Place bottoms of hoagie buns on a baking pan. Spoon 1/4 of the meat mixture on each bun. Sprinkle with the cheese. Place under broiler until cheese melts (about 1 minute). Add tops.
