Smothered Steak Casserole


A hearty casserole with steak, potatoes, onion, and biscuits that is great for a hungry crew.



Ingredients:

  • 1 lb round steak (cut in pieces)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • flour
  • 6 tbsp shortening
  • 2 medium potatoes (sliced)
  • 1 lge. onion (sliced)
  • 1 can refrigerator biscuits

Method

Season steak with salt and pepper and dredge with flour. Brown with shortening in a skillet. Place half of the steak in the bottom of a casserole dish. Add half of the potatoes, half of the onion, salt and pepper then repeat the layers. Sprinkle 2 tbsp of flour over the top and add enough water to cover all ingredients. Make at 300 degrees for 90 minutes. Turn oven up to 375 degrees. Arrange biscuits on top of casserole and bake until biscuits are brown.
