Sweet Meatballs


Ground beef or pork is combined with crackers, rice, onion and onion soup mix, formed into small meatballs, and covered with a saucy mixture.



Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs of extra lean ground beef or pork
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 3/4 cup of Minute Rice
  • 1 sleeve of Premium salted top crackers, crushed
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1 cup of Heinz ketchup
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 3/4 cup of vinegar
  • 1 ts of dry mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

In a large bowl mix together (with your hands) meat, rice, crackers, onions, and onion soup mix. Add salt and pepper. Roll in little balls and put them in a rectangular baking dish. Bake 20 minutes at 350. Meanwhile, mix together ketchup, both sugars, vinegar, & dry mustard until smooth. When the 20 minutes are up, add the sauce to the meatballs and cook for 40 minutes.

Notes: Serve with potato salad, pasta salad or rice.
