Zesty Barbecue Beef

Hot pepper sauce makes this a zesty barbecue sauce with sliced cooked beef. Carrots and sweet peppers add texture, while the onion soup mix adds flavor.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1 julienned green pepper
  • 24 ounce tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 pounds thinly sliced cooked beef 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco
  • 12 Kaiser rolls
  • 2 tablespoon mustard
  • lettuce leaves
  • 1 cup grated carrots
  • 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce

Method

Combine onion soup mix and tomato sauce. Add brown sugar, mustard, Tabasco. Stir to blend. Add carrots and green pepper. Cover tightly and cook slowly for 10 minutes, stirring. Stir beef into sauce. Cook slowly 15 to 20 minutes, stirring. Serve in rolls.
